The article is devoted to the problem of forming the strategy of professionalization of students of medical college. The author examines the strategy of professionalization as a way of professional self-development formed by educational institutions as a secondary agent of socialization. Modern professional development of nurses is connected with the expansion and complication of the social role, requiring professional variable strategy. Quantitative sociological research based on the results of questioning of students of the medical college allowed to reveal specific professionalization strategies. Among students of the medical college the situational choice of profession prevails, based on insurmountable barriers to more attractive professional groups. Career strategies are inefficient and are characterized by: 1) low awareness of possible career positions, 2) irrational strategy of self-development, and 3) lack of serious time and resource costs to develop one’s human capital assets.
