Experimental evaluation of natursil influence on metabolic processes

The examination showed that as a result of longtime per os natursil administration it is registered upward trend of body weight gain, increasing of RBC and haemoglobin level, level of serum total protein, while urea level decreases, activity of transaminases decreases to some extent and lactate dehydrogenase activity increases, serum triglycerides
level decreases.

About the role of biology in the higher medical education

The article highlights the importance of basic knowledge in Biology for the physician of any specialty. The course of General Biology is intended to contribute in a future physician an individual attitude to each patient as a unique phenomenon predetermined by a genome and implemented in the specific environments. There are some educational methods of teaching the Biology at the Department of Medicobiologic sciences of Saratov Medical Institute “REAVIZ”.

Cranioplasty of the craniocerebral firearm wounds

This article describes experience of primary early (from 15 days to three months), tardy (3-6 months), and late (later than 6 months) cranioplasty after non-penetrating (in most cases) and penetrating craniocerebral firearm wounds in 66 patients. The skull defects were closed by an autogenous bone (kept under the aponeurosis of the anterior abdominal wall), devitalized homobone and protacryl. Long-term results were studied in 40 patients using electrophysiological and immunological studies. All patients reached full social and part labor rehabilitation. Graft rejection was registered in four patients and was caused by infection of the skin wound and rejection. The study showed positive results of early cranioplasty after radical surgical debridement of primary wounds using modern techniques (Samotokin magnetic shafts, brain staining, tidal drainage and others).

Electronic photon probe «as-epp»

The article describes a new development of a physiotherapeutic device “electronic photon probe AS-EFP”. The device is recommended for treatment of gynecological, urological, and proctologic diseases. The device combines functions of electrical stimulation and simultaneous exposure of low-intensity red and infrared source. Thus, the human body is simultaneously treated by electrical stimulation and photon radiation (red and infrared), which extends the range of diseases treatable by electronic-photon probe “AS-EPP”.

Changes of the immune system in squamous cell carcinoma patients during surgical treatment

Changes of the immune status were found in 39 patients with squamous cell carcinoma. Patients’ age was 65 ± 3 years. In all patients, the disease stage was T1-2N0M0. Investigations were conducted prior to the surgery, on the first postoperative day, and then on the fifth, seventh, tenth postoperative days, and 18 months after the surgery. Obtained data were compared with the parameters of cell-mediated immunity from 17 relatively healthy volunteers of the same age and sex (control group 1) and 20 patients operated for skin fibroma (control group 2), age and sex of the patients from the control group 2 matched the main group, the parameters were studied on the same day. The study determined that cell-mediated immunity of squamous cell carcinoma patients before surgical treatment was characterized by decrease in both relative and absolute number of lymphocytes bearing receptors CD16+, CD3+, CD4+, CD8+, and it significantly increased on the tenth postoperative day. In humoral immunity of squamous cell carcinoma patients a decrease of IgG, M amounts, as well as the total amount of complement, its C3 and C4 fractions, TNFa, IL1β, IL-6, IL-10, INFγ, PI, phagocytic coefficient, spontaneous NBT-test, zymosan induced NBT-test were revealed, while amount of CIC was increased. Partial restoration of IgG, M occurs on the tenth postoperative day.

External intestinal fistula (medical case)

The article describes a case of successful treatment for intestinal fistula developed as a complication after appendectomy. The reasons for external intestinal fistulas usually are: pyoinflammatory process in the abdominal cavity at the moment of the operation caused by either circulatory disturbance or inflammation in the intestinal wall as well as tactical and technical errors during both surgical intervention and management of postoperative period.

Modern technology in the regulation of human life

The study presents analysis of dynamic electroneurostimulation (DENS), that is further step for PENS (percutaneous electroneurostimulation) and electropuncture. It was established that the main characteristics differ it from the other types of the dynamic electric impulse methods are pulse shape and frequency which are the closest to the nerve cells of the human body; brevity and wide range of the amplitude in dynamically changing pulses makes it possible to effectively influence on the various types of nerve fibers, including the fibers of high excitation threshold, much better than
other methods of treatment; usability and monitoring of the skin impedance provided the certain skills allows one to determine an individual scheme of treatment.

Dynamic changes in the myocytes of cervix myometrium in rats during pregnancy and delivery

Complex morphologic study of the leiomyocytuses at a level of cervix sphincter in rats during pregnancy and delivery made it possible to reveal the dynamic changes among the populations of myometrium myocytes. It was established that during pregnancy myocytes hypertrophy in all layers of the cervix myometrium. On the eve of delivery and during normal delivery, number of special organelles and the structure of protein synthesizing system in the myocytes of the inner layer decreases. Clasmatosis indicates two simultaneous processes: secretion of the intercellular substance and start of involutory changes.
